WHAT IS ABSTRAKTURE

ARTIST, MUSICIAN, MOTORCYCLE RIDING COMPUTER GEEK.

Welcome to ABSTRAKTURE.

My name is Shawn Stoddard and I am an artist, musician and motorcycle riding computer nerd. I geek out on everything artistic, musical or motorcycle related.

Professionally Abstrakture is just a one man design studio, and I use that term lightly. I specialize in solving visual challenges for my clients, from logos and brand strategy to motion graphics and large format graphics. I try to approach every project with the perspective that it will be on display for others to judge so I must always do my absolute best. I am lucky enough to have worked with like minded people who expect the best.

I also get to work with musicians creating album cover art, electronic press kits, social media blasts and event flyers for gigs and concerts. Lately, I have been able to animate some of those album covers and flyers for social media which have become some of the most fun and exciting projects to do.

My personal art includes line art drawings, abstract images, short comics that are like 1 or 2 pages long, music and video experiments. Most of these are done just to see what new technique I can learn or break the rules on, but they are always fun.

I am a very amateur photographer but consider myself to have a decent eye for photos and I have basic knowledge of how a camera works so the pictures come out kinda cool. Plus I know Photoshop so I can always do some artistic retouching if needed.

To stay creative in as many ways as possible, I play drums in a band. We play all around Arizona and release music regularly on iTunes and Spotify. It’s a lot of fun and lets me feel like a rock star every once in a while!

Additionally, I also have my own music projects in which I write all of the music and play the instruments. I have done this for more than 20 years and was signed to “Dekonstruction Records” from 2001-2003, and “Empire Media Records” from 2003-2006. Both were independent labels from the East Coast. Now I just release my own music on my own and have fun with it.

I ride a motorcycle almost everyday of the year. If it’s raining I pull up my weather app and check the doppler to see how bad, how long and where.  It is something that centers me and gives me the best ideas. It’s where I am most creative, like all the ideas are in the wind and I get to ride right through them. I know that sounds cheesy but it’s truth for me.
